Lake Manyara National Park

This park is located at the base of Rift Valley escarpments and unlike other savannah dominated parks; lake Manyara offers different option with its ground water forests and marshland area that is a favorite of Cape buffalo, baboons, elephants, dik-dik, hippo and giraffe. The salty lake is home to over 300 migratory birds including flamingoes, long-crested eagles and grey-headed kingfisher. The park itself has a thin concentration of game; but does not make it less spectacular as it is the only place in Tanzania one can spot the elusive tree-climbing lion! The best time to visit is during the dry season, which runs from June to September.
